We are slowing edging towards the summer. The barrels are full, and the beer is already brewing. We are closing down at that time of the year when the beer is free flowing, and the music is the loudest—Oktoberfest!

Oktoberfest is a 200-year old tradition that kicks off every year at the third week of September and ends on the very first Sunday of October. In the US, the festival kicks off with millions of beer lovers gathering around to form large tents. The celebration is renowned for the abundance of freshly brewed beer, coolers of sweetly roasted chickens, lamps, dumplings, and burger. The celebration may not make it into the most significant festivals around the world, but a large amount of tourists’ troop into Munich in their thousands to shake down the city for beer. We bring you some of the best Oktoberfest celebrations around the world.

200-year old tradition

Munich, Germany

This is the headquarters of the Oktoberfest celebration. Every year, over five million visitors troop into Munich for the Oktoberfest celebrations where over seven million liters of beer are consumed. The Bavarian glamorous beer party is the biggest in the whole world, and if you want to enjoy the true spirit of Oktoberfest, Munich is the place to be. This is my favorite place to celebrate, the crowds are large and the people are friendly. However, at times it can be overwhelming being with so many people all day long. There are plenty of places throughout the city where you can retreat and relax, I personally like to head to Black Bean Cafe. Then once I’m recharged I head back to the festival

Leavenworth Oktoberfest

The tourist town of Leavenworth is hidden in Washington for the rest of the year but comes alive for the Oktoberfest every September. The city, which was formerly a little mining village, has over the years turned to one of the best Bavarian tourist spots in the states. The town was redesigned in a graceful Alpine fashion to look live a local Bavarian village in Germany. Thousands of beer lovers troop into this place year for the Oktoberfest celebration and they are never disappointed. From the local breweries to restaurants that serve German dishes, everything there looks like Germany!

Oktoberfest USA La Crosse

If you cannot make it to Munich and you find yourself around Wisconsin, then you should get ready for this year’s version of Oktoberfest. With over 150 thousand guests every year, the celebration is just a replica of Munich but in a smaller version. Wisconsin is very popular for craft beers and local brews, so the celebration gets an adequate supply of beer that’s made in America. You would also enjoy other side attractions like the Dachshund race and live music performances.

New Ulm’s Oktoberfest

Over 50 percent of the entire New Ulm’s populations have German descent. So the city is just the right place to be for the Oktoberfest celebrations. The city locals shut down every street for the festivals and lines up great beer taps, picnic tables and lots of food stalls for the two weeks celebrations. The locals recreate that feeling that would make you think you are in Germany.  You will enjoy a free tour of the local Schell’s Brewery that allows an Oktoberfest tour for guests while you are at the celebration.

Every of the weekend party takes place both indoors and outdoors with lots of food, beer, and loud music. For over a week people gather to have fun and drink to live.

Oktoberfest Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas, NV

You cannot talk about parties without mentioning Vegas. There is no better place to party and have fun in the United States than Las Vegas.  Every year, Oktoberfest is hosted in Vegas by a big multinational company. The guests are treated to non-stop weekend parties with the beer flowing from a massive wooden keg and various kinds of meat roasting away in different grill stands. October is an ideal time to visit Las Vegas as well, as summer is winding down the crowds won’t be as large, meaning you’ll have more time to hit the casino and pool parties.
